Artist’s Statement:

In Dublin, the Georgian door is more than an entry — it is identity, rhythm, and quiet individuality expressed within a shared architectural order. Built largely in the 18th and early 19th centuries, these doorways follow a disciplined symmetry: brick façades, classical columns, fanlights arching above like half-open eyes. And yet, within that structure, color becomes voice.

This door — a deep, assured green — holds its place within that tradition. The composition is deliberate: the centered knocker, the measured proportions, the elliptical fanlight softening the geometry. The number 33 rests with understated clarity, part of a streetscape where repetition creates harmony rather than monotony.

What shifts the moment is the reflection in the glass — leaves, light, and movement layered over permanence. Dublin’s Georgian doors have long stood as markers of order and civility, but they are not static. Time passes across them in shadows, in weather, in the lives that cross their thresholds.

I’m drawn to these doors. You will see them throughout the gallerry–consistency and variety in complex balance–like book covers with different stories.
